Joan Emberg (well known
Tasmanian author) was born on the wild West Coast of Tasmania and met her
mad man in 1974. When their children left home, Joan and her mad man
liquefied their assets and took off for overseas adventures. This led
them to a grass shack in Mexico and a fish factory on the Aleutians.
Their adventures placed them in many a typical situations in Germany,
Netherlands, Italy, Yugoslavia, Turkey, China, Korea, Japan and many others. Joan was struck by a golf ball while bicycling on the Marshall Islands, as a result she became epileptic.
